Career

From building systems to shaping technology strategy.

The positions are less interesting as a climb than as a change of vantage point: the same technology, seen from five different parts of the same company.

Most technology careers run in one track: deeper into engineering, or further away from it. Mine ran sideways — through development, customer care, quality, operational responsibility, technology leadership and finally technology communication.

That was not a plan at the outset. In hindsight it is the reason I rarely regard an architecture decision as a purely technical one: I have watched, from several seats, who receives the bill for it.

Now

Current position

  1. since 2026

    Chief Technology Evangelist

    CSP Intelligence GmbH, Großköllnbach

Technology vision, innovation topics and the strategic positioning of the technology portfolio; technology communication inward and outward, and the connection between technology, product and market. The part of the work where technology has to be not only right but understood.

Leadership

Where the scale changed

Four positions in which what was actually being decided changed, one step at a time.

  1. 2024 – 2026

    Chief Technology Officer

    CSP Intelligence GmbH

Responsibility for architecture, technology portfolio and the engineering organisation: several standalone products brought together into one suite with a shared domain model, a modular monolith with clear boundaries and platform-neutral operation, migration paths without a hard cutover for existing customers, AI as a standard part of development, plus technical review in an M&A context. This is where "can it be built?" turned into "what does it cost to own for ten years?".

  2. 2022 – 2024

Head of Operations / Authorised Officer

    CSP Intelligence GmbH

Operational responsibility across departments and the scaling of delivery, support and quality processes. The position in which technology stops being a discipline and becomes the operating model.

  3. 2021 – 2022

Head of Customer Service & Quality

    CSP Intelligence GmbH

Rebuilding support and quality assurance around measurable service processes. Quality and support are where it becomes visible which technical decisions actually held.

  4. 2020 – 2021

    Team Manager Customer Support

    CSP Intelligence GmbH

Building and stabilising first- and second-level support, knowledge management and standard processes. The first leadership role — and the shortest feedback loop there is between a software defect and a person who has to live with it.

Foundation

What it is built on

Engineering, product and industry — the years the technical foundation came from.

  1. 2018 – 2020

QMS Product Owner / Software Engineer

    Liebherr Group

Developing MES and QMS solutions and building a standardised quality management framework for joining technology, together with test automation. Industrial manufacturing as an environment where software hangs on a physical process and tolerances are not negotiable.

  2. 2016 – 2018

    After-Sales Manager & Customer Care

    CSP Intelligence GmbH

Building after-sales and customer care, and delivering process and quality improvements. The view of what happens to a product after it has been sold.

  3. 2014 – 2016

    Project Manager / Product Owner

TEBA Kreditbank GmbH & Co. KG

Project steering and product ownership, still with hands in the code. A regulated industry as a lesson in traceability not being an accessory.

  4. 2013 – 2014

Head of IT / Product Owner

    GSM-Multimedia GmbH

Leading IT and product development, again with development work of my own. The first responsibility for a landscape of systems rather than for a single system.

  5. 2011 – 2013

    Software Engineer (apprenticeship)

    RMN IT

Software engineering, licensing and support. The beginning: building and supporting in the same person, which cures you thoroughly of thinking about either without the other.

Engineering

  • Software architecture
  • Enterprise systems and platforms
  • Cloud and on-premises
  • Data platforms and process data
  • AI systems and automation
  • Cybersecurity

Industry and operations

  • Manufacturing and quality software
  • Worker guidance and shopfloor
  • Traceability and audit trails
  • Quality management
  • Retiring legacy systems
  • Evaluating automation and robotics opportunities

Organisation

  • Process design
  • Operating models
  • Service and delivery processes
  • Building technical organisations

What this path is for.

The independent work on technology, AI and enterprise value runs through IEX Labs. That is where the questions this path produced are worked out.
